SAILING THROUGH 1930S YUGOSLAVIA
In the summer of 1936, while Edward and Mrs Simpson were cruising the Yugoslavian coast - and towards the abdication crisis - an adventurous couple from Switzerland were following a near-identical route. Dr Leo and Grethi Wehrli sailed to the same ports and islands, travelling between Dubrovnik, Korcula, Sibenik and Rab. Leo photographed the trip - and another they took the following year - while Grethi painstakingly hand-coloured the images. The results capture perfectly the romantic calm of the summer before the royal storm
